Welcome to our Summer 2020 newsletter. Although our Advice Centre and Bookshop are temporarily closed, we are still working away behind the scenes to continue to support you and provide advice and equipment as necessary.

This is currently closed but you can contact our sight Advisor by leaving a message on our office number and we will get back to you. We can arrange for any equipment you need to be sent out to you through the post..

VIEW Working Age Group

Our group of “working age” people are meeting together over the Internet. If you would like to join them, please let us know and we will put you in touch.

Online Courses

Lancashire Adult Learning and others are offering some free online courses. If you are interested please contact us.

Help with Technology

One to One technology sessions with Tim from the RNIB are available over the phone or Internet.

He is available to help you with your laptop, smartphone or tablet queries Ring us for further details or to book a session for up to an hour. session.


We would like to remind you that the RNIB Library has digital, audio, braille and large print books. It is a free service but you will need to provide your own player. Help is provided to choose books over the phone or you can use their online catalogue. For more information phone the RNIB Helpline on 0303 123 9999.
Also, Calibre Audio is a national charity lending free audiobooks to anyone who has a print disability such as vision impairment or blindness.
You can receive these books by CD, memory stick or via the Internet. For more information phone 01296 432339
eBooks and eAudiobooks can be borrowed from your library. If you are a member of Lancashire Libraries they have a wide selection of eBooks available, as well as an extensive collection of eAudiobooks to cater to all ages and genre preferences, all on free, downloadable apps. These eBooks can be read using large print, voice over or as eAudiobooks via computers, tablets and mobiles.</strong>.


Sightline provide free telephone-based befriending for people affected by sight loss. Regular befriending can be arranged at a convenient time for you. They have trained volunteers, with experience of sight loss. If you would like to talk to someone, call 0800 587 2252 or visit
